As today is International Day of Charity, we thought it would be the ideal time to do a blog updating you all on our relationship with our Charity of the Year – Foyle Search & Rescue.
So far, this year we have had bake sales, raffles, Fantasy Football and only a few days ago, we had some of our colleagues run the Waterside Half Marathon. Our Compliancers have been slogging away throughout the summer ahead of the event. A big cheer goes to our MetaCompliance Athletics Team – Gareth Cairns, James Mackay, Ellen Mackay, Karen MacNaught, Christopher Moore, Noel Burns, Rhona O’Donnell and Grace O’Brien who all took part in this year’s event.
Continuing our streak of fitness freakery, we are hosting a Charity Football Tournament for all of our colleagues this Friday in aid of Foyle Search & Rescue. But if all this exercise seems like hard work, we do have plenty of events on the other end of the spectrum too. On Friday 24th September, we will be celebrating National Cupcake Week by hosting a Charity Bake Sale/Coffee Morning in aid of our Charity of the Year as well (and because we need some sweetness to balance out all that exercise!)
Foyle Search and Rescue is a registered, voluntary based charity operating in Derry, Northern Ireland, but cover search and rescue operations throughout the UK and Ireland when required. Foyle Search and Rescue was set up by local people in 1993 in response to the alarmingly high number of drownings in the river. They’ve also adopted the role of preventing suicide and supporting families in the city.
We are working to increase the awareness of Foyle Search and Rescue and provide easy access to information, advice and services. Our aim from the start of the partnership was to hold various fundraising events aimed at engaging and inspiring colleagues to raise funds for the charity with a focus on mental health. We believe we have achieved this to date and are going from strength to strength in our fundraising efforts for the Charity.
We aim to raise £5,000 throughout the year for Foyle Search & Rescue through various activities. This will also be matched by the company to in total raise £10,000 for the charity. This is part of MetaCompliance’s commitment to developing its strategy of inclusion within Derry and commitment to helping one of the City’s finest institutions.
If you’d like to support our staff’s efforts and donate to one of our great events for Foyle Search & Rescue, or even if you want to make a small donation, you can do so here.
