The City of London Police serves the 300,000 people who live in, work within and visit the City of London. They focus on both the residential and business sectors of the city, while maintaining an active presence on the streets helping to prevent crime.
Gary Brailsford-Hart (Director of Information) advised that that “The City of London Police recognised that it needed to improve the way officers and staff received and acknowledged important policies, briefings and procedures”. After researching the market for a Policy Management and Training Solution, City of London Police selected the MetaCompliance Staff Policy and Training system. Their requirements specified a solution that was “centrally administered, easy to use and would tightly integrate and support the delivery of a managed learning environment."
Explaining their choice of Policy Management system Mr Brailsford-Hart said “In a time of austerity, the purchase of any new software solution must provide demonstrable return on investment as well as seeking to deliver value-added benefits beyond its initial scope. We have therefore taken the concept of the compliance solution and have been able to demonstrate a number of cross-departmental benefits including the support of operational policing as well as good corporate business practices.”
Metacompliance integrated Policy Management software focuses on “The Human Factor” not only educating staff on Information Governance Policies but also allowing companies to develop education programmes and events around the IT Governance Awareness Program (IGAP), to build user awareness and mitigate the risk of financial and reputational damage. Presenting on the Metacompliance stand at the recent InfoSecurity Europe event in London Mr Brailsford-Hart also stated that the Policy Management Software “supports the existing working practices within the organisation and that the project delivered significant unanticipated benefits.”
Metacompliance Managing Director Robert O’Brien responded by saying, "The emergency services community like the City of London Police are heavily regulated with staff and officers having to demonstrate compliance with multiple policies and procedures” Mr O’Brien went on to say “only with the use of our automated compliance tool could the force hope to maintain best practice and support their officers."
Metacompliance has a clear vision of making Compliance and IT Security easier for organisations. The software can ensure the active participation of all staff in compliance initiatives such as policies, eLearning and surveys, thus mitigating the risk of compliance incident and the associated fines. The software can be used to demonstrate that staff understand content such as policies by being tested with questions. Delivering increased user participation in compliance and IT Security campaigns provides the audit information to generate reports that allow the organisation to demonstrate its “duty of care” to Regulators.
