There are many types of users within SmartPlant Cloud, and Intergraph PP&M encountered challenges engaging these users in the necessary regular compliance activities. These users consist of internal staff, customers, and external contractors.
Protecting the company from cybersecurity risks is a big challenge, and many organisations find that obtaining and ensuring user participation in these activities is a lengthy and expensive process. Intergraph PP&M required user acknowledgement of the most recent version of company policies. Intergraph needed to ensure the responsible use by all SmartPlant Cloud users of its resources and to avoid practices which would degrade the usability of the SmartPlant Cloud service.
Intergraph PP&M was looking for an effective way of educating employees and third parties to ensure the successful deployment of a user education program strategy. In addition to these needs, Intergraph wanted to regularly carry out customer and user satisfaction surveys highlighting their performance against specific customer service level agreements.
Intergraph PP&M researched the market for a solution to assist in the delivery of its Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Management Strategy for SmartPlant Cloud. It was decided that the MetaCompliance product best fitted their requirements. It was felt that the MetaCompliance software matched Intergraph PP&M’s own development strategy for cloud, user surveys, eLearning, and risk assessments in a cost-effective manner.
Users recognise that compliance is a necessary element and will engage in programmes if access to content is made simple. The MetaCompliance Cloud Product Suite based in Microsoft Azure allows organisations to facilitate internal staff and third party engagement by giving them access to key compliance programmes, policies, surveys, and training at any time, from any device, from any location.
A Cloud offering which facilitates Intergraph PP&M’s need for employee engagement, as each user could access all compliance obligations via a Cloud based compliance portal. The portal would not only allow them to view and self-attest to policies and communications but also provide a clear audit trail of this process.
A Cloud offering which would allow Intergraph PP&M to centralise all its existing eLearning and training content into one go-to place, allowing each SmartPlant Cloud user to browse the training and awareness materials to self-learn in accordance to the job role.
SmartPlant Cloud uses Microsoft SharePoint as an information management environment because it is a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information from almost any device. The MetaCompliance Cloud Product Suite was integrated into SmartPlant Cloud using the MetaCompliance SharePoint integration module.
This seamless integration results in the use of single sign-on (SSO) functionality, which is made possible through Microsoft’s identity management component Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). Once the Cloud user is signed into the SmartPlant Cloud Portal environment using unique login credentials authenticated against ADFS, it permits the user to select one of the MetaCompliance Cloud solutions, avoiding the inconvenience of having to re-authenticate credentials to access the products. This approach was very beneficial to Intergraph PP&M, as there would be no additional development and integration costs.
Using MyCompliance, Intergraph PP&M was able to enforce industry standard practice in security and governance by the regular and ongoing communication of policies and procedures to each user of the SmartPlant Cloud Service.
MetaLearning in SmartPlant Cloud is currently used to deliver in-house training videos on how to use the SmartPlant Cloud application product suite, detailed instructions on the process and procedures of the SmartPlant Cloud service, and other interactive eLearning training.
Intergraph’s customers also have full access to both MetaLearning and MyCompliance solutions and can post their own content within the system. To date these customers have posted a number of how-to videos to educate their user base of certain SmartPlant Cloud applications on certain functionalities within the application.
The SmartPlant Cloud Service was delivered and operated in accordance with strict customer-focused service level agreements and key performance indicators (KPI). A major KPI that Intergraph needed to deliver on was continuous and ongoing customer satisfaction surveys in order to capture ongoing and regular feedback from all customers that use SmartPlant Cloud. The MyCompliance solution from MetaCompliance offers the capability to create and uniquely target surveys to obtain end user feedback, using a sophisticated scheduling and targeting function to ensure end user uptake amongst its user base of the Cloud Service.
These surveys provide valuable information at the beginning of a SmartPlant Cloud experience to ensure that the service is delivered to all stakeholders’ expectations.
As well as delivering a Cloud Service, a major requirement for Intergraph - as a responsible service provider - is to ensure and maintain the security, reliability, and privacy of the SmartPlant Cloud Service. To demonstrate the highest possible security standards in Intergraph’s Cloud technology and processes, the company selected to certify in the industry leading ISO27001:2013.
Now installed and fully operational, MetaCompliance Cloud Product Suite has outperformed all of the original project objectives. Intergraph PP&M is extremely satisfied with the system, technology, and skill set of the software
