Infosec Europe 2025 brought together cybersecurity professionals from across industries to address this year’s theme: Building a Safer Cyber World. The discussions reflected current priorities for security teams, with human risk, AI and ransomware leading the agenda.
AI in the Hands of Attackers
The dominant concern among attendees was how threat actors are using it to enhance attacks. Delegates discussed the increased use of generative tools to craft more convincing phishing messages, impersonate individuals and manipulate content. This shift has made it harder for employees to distinguish between genuine and malicious communications. As a result, many security leaders are re-evaluating their training efforts to ensure they prepare staff to respond confidently to threats.
Ransomware 3.0 and the Shift in Attacker Strategy
Ransomware has moved beyond single-stage encryption attacks. Several conversations focused on how attackers are now stealing data before encryption, threatening reputational damage and using prolonged, multi-layered extortion tactics. There’s also a growing trend of targeting individuals within organisations, increasing the psychological pressure on victims. These changes have reinforced the need for personalised awareness training, where employees know the risks they face and identify them when they arise.
Behaviour Change, Not Just Awareness
Many CISOs expressed frustration with awareness training that fails to deliver meaningful outcomes. The focus has clearly shifted from delivering information to driving behaviour change. Leaders want content that integrates easily into existing frameworks. Awareness is no longer seen as a checkbox exercise; it’s being redefined as an ongoing process for managing human risk.
What MetaCompliance Showcased
MetaCompliance used Infosec Europe to show how our platform helps organisations tackle today’s security and compliance challenges, while giving exclusive demos on our two 2 features:
- Virtual Presenter: Converts key messages into custom video briefings
- Content to Course: Transforms static documents into editable, trackable eLearning
We also previewed the upcoming Cyber Police: Season 4 – designed to engage users with story-driven, scenario-based training.
Next Steps
Infosec Europe highlighted the urgency of addressing human risk with strategies that scale. As organisations plan for 2025, awareness programmes need to be relevant, measurable and outcome focused.
